Art, creativity, journalling are good for the soul! Why a mandala?

Creating a circle of shapes - mandala - is very satisfying.

I have loved art all my life.

When I was a little girl I was torn between the goal of becoming an artist or a prima ballerina! I wonder how many of us have had dreams like that?

The truth is that life happens, and things interrupt or change for us.

The reason I love my little course Circle of Leaves is that it’s about creativity in a relaxed way. And about noticing shapes and elements around us - such as leaves or flowers. Mandalas are not just the colour-in pattern version. They have many other creative uses. Arranging them in ways that we can paint, or draw or decorate in another way.

For example, placing elements in a circular mandala arrangement of flowers and leaves and seeds on a round plate on a dining table is also a creative art activity. Or a celebratory setting such as in the one I made in the photo below for a Circle.

Or you might be at a beach or river bank and draw patterns in the sand and create a mandala with seashells and seaweed. You might even have a couple of feathered or furry admirers watching you as you create. (smile)

Even if we are the only person dining at our table - creating a pleasing arrangement of flowers on a round plate can help to uplift us and feed our soul. Inspires us to journal and helps us to connect with possibilities.

Perhaps on your next walk, you can look for ‘mandala’ shapes in nature.

Till next time,

Karen
